Moss Vale Public School looks forward to working in partnership with you and watching your child grow and succeed in his or her learning and social emotional growth over the coming years.

The aim of our Inclusive Orientation and School Readiness Program is to provide the opportunity for future Kindergarten students to get a taste of life at ‘big’ school, help your child feel at ease and make a smooth transition when school starts next year.

Parents can fill out an enrolment form online. It is a requirement when you fill out your application that you also attach your childs original birth certificate, proof of address and their immunisation record. Thursday 7 November – 9.15am – 11.00am - Parent information session

Tuesday 12 November – 9.15am – 11.00am - Children only

Thursday 21 November – 9.15am – 11.00am - Children only

Tuesday 26 November – 9.15am – 11.00am - Parent information session and Teddy Bear’s picnic

Children spend time in the classroom engaging in fun teacher-led activities. The students attending the Support Unit in 2025 will engage as a smaller group with their teacher.

During the first session, Thursday 7 November, parents are invited to stay in the hall for an information session about the school and how literacy and numeracy is taught.

During the second and third sessions, Tuesday 12 and Thursday 21 November, parents are encouraged to ‘kiss and drop’ children off.

During the final session, Tuesday 26 November, students are encouraged to bring a teddy bear and families are invited to stay to purchase uniforms, gain further information relating to the P&C, canteen, band program, OOSH service and other local services. The session will finish with a Teddy Bear’s picnic on the lawn with families. This is a wonderful opportunity for children and parents to connect with each other.

Your child is encouraged to attend all sessions to help them become familiar with the school.

When to start school

Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday.

When your child starts school is an individual decision. You may wish to discuss this with your child's preschool teacher, carer, doctor or your local primary school.

If your child attends a preschool or childcare centre, the school can work with the to help get to know your child and for you and your child to get to know the school.
