Our preschool
As part of the NSW Government’s commitment to build 100 public preschools by Term 1 2027, our school has been selected to receive one of the new preschools.
Moss Vale Public Preschool will soon welcome families into our school community, where children will learn in a supportive, inclusive and play-based learning environment. Our preschool will be a valued part of our school, providing children with the best start in life and early learning.
Expressions of interest to enrol at our public preschool open Monday 10 August!

Families who would like to enrol their child in the preschool can submit a completed Expression of interest to enrol in a NSW public preschool form to our school office, from 9.30am Monday 10 August 2026.
We anticipate the preschool will open in early Term 4 2026, pending planning and regulatory approvals.
From Monday 10 August 2026, we will be accepting expressions of interest for:
- Term 4 2026 — for children turning 4 on or before 31 July 2026. These children may or may not be starting Kindergarten in 2027.
- Term 1 2027 — for children turning 4 on or before 31 July 2027 and starting preschool for the first time in 2027.
Families only need to submit one EOI form and can indicate which intake(s) they are interested in when submitting the EOI, our office team can help with this.

Important — original documents
Original documents must be sighted in person by our office/admin team. Please don't email copies of personal documents, to protect your family's privacy.
What happens next
- Submit your completed EOI form, with original documents sighted in person at our office (from 9.30 am Monday 10 August).
- Your EOI is only active once all documents are sighted — we'll date- and time-stamp it then. There's no fee to apply or to be on the waitlist.
- From Monday 24 August, we begin reviewing applications. A panel process applies if applications exceed available places.
- Applicants will either be invited to a ‘successful Expression of Interest’ meeting, or advised they've been placed on our waitlist. The meeting prepares families for when service approval is granted and formal enrolment can begin.
- Enrolment offers will be made as soon as our preschool is granted service approval, the legislated ‘green light’ from the NSW Early Learning Commission confirming we can safely operate (this may not be until the end of this term, or early Term 4). No enrolment form will be accepted prior to service approval.
At our preschool, children will explore, ask questions and learn through play. Our experienced staff will support children to have a positive transition into Kindergarten. We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our preschool when it opens.

Our preschool will operate from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm during the school term, following the same days and hours as our school, and will be closed during school and public holidays.
We have 2 preschool classes, each catering for up to 20 children per day.
Our preschool offers two 5 day fortnight attendance patterns, ensuring each child receives 600 hours of preschool each year.
Attendance patterns
A 5-day fortnight (or alternate-week pattern) has children attend preschool for three days one week and two days the next, alternating Wednesdays.
Public preschools enrol children for one year only, in the year before they start school. Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn 4 years of age before 31 July that year.
Unlike NSW public schools, there are no enrolment boundaries for public preschools. Children do not need to live in our school’s local enrolment intake area (catchment area) to apply. If the number of applications exceeds the number of available places, enrolments will be prioritised in accordance with the Public Preschool Enrolment Procedure.
Enrolment in a preschool class does not guarantee a place in Kindergarten at our school. School Finder can help families find their local public school.

Our preschool will be an approved early learning service and operate under the National Quality Framework.
We will provide a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment where children feel supported to learn, grow and thrive.
Our child to staff ratio will be 10:1 and every class will be staffed with a university-trained early childhood teacher (ECT) and a trained School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) to ensure the high-quality delivery of early learning education.
Our learning program will offer age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences guided by the Early Years Learning Framework.
We regularly review our policies and procedures to provide a safe, inclusive and high-quality learning environment for all children.
