Moss Vale Public Preschool
Work is underway for a new public preschool at Moss Vale Public School. The proposed location of the preschool is situated on the western side of the school.
The new public preschool will provide a safe and engaging environment for preschool children. It will feature specially designed rooms and a quality outdoor play area. The construction of the preschool is expected to be completed in time for Day 1 Term 1 2027.

About Our Preschool
Our public preschool will soon welcome children into a supportive, play-based learning environment within our P-6 school community. Children will explore, ask questions and learn through play, strengthening their curiosity and love of learning in a nurturing environment.
Children will engage in thoughtfully designed play-based experiences with our qualified educators. Our public preschool will be an approved early childhood education and care service.
Our Preschool Program
Our preschool program will:
- Support children's learning, development and wellbeing through offering quality play-based learning programs for 5 days a fortnight in the year before Kindergarten, to support children's transition to primary school
- Strengthen children's confidence as learners in the year before school
- Extend and enrich each child's learning, development and wellbeing
- Operate under the National Quality Framework
How Our Preschool Will Operate
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm
- Closed during school holidays and public holidays
- Each preschool class will enrol up to 20 children per day
- There will be two classes in our preschool
- The child to staff ratio is 10:1, and every class is staffed with a university trained early childhood teacher and a suitably trained School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) to ensure high-quality delivery of education and care
Fee-Free Public Preschool
Our public preschool will be free to attend. Fees are not charged for preschool enrolment, attendance, waiting list applications or specialist programs.
Start Strong funding is not used to subsidise fees at public preschools and may still be accessed by families at other early childhood education and care services.
Enrolment Information
Current Enrolment Status
Expressions of interest (EOIs) to enrol at Moss Vale Public Preschool are not yet open. We will advise the school community once EOIs open.
Families seeking to enrol their child in our public preschool should contact our school office for more information about our enrolment procedure or join our mailing list to receive updates.
Who Can Enrol
- Public preschools enrol children for one year only — the year before they start school
- Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn 4 years of age before 31 July that year
Enrolment Priorities
Public preschools first prioritise enrolment for:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children
- children living in low socio-economic circumstances
- children unable to access other early childhood settings due to disadvantage or financial hardship
If places remain after applying these priorities, offers of enrolment are made in the following order
- children living within the school’s enrolment intake area who have siblings enrolled in the school
- children living within the school's enrolment intake area in the order that EOIs were received
- children living outside the school's intake area and who have siblings enrolled in the school in the order that EOIs were received
- children living outside the school's enrolment intake area in the order that EOIs were received.
No Enrolment Boundaries
Unlike NSW public schools, there are no enrolment boundaries for public preschools. Children do not need to live in our school's local enrolment intake area to apply.
Please note: enrolment in a preschool class does not guarantee a place in Kindergarten at our school. Families can use School Finder to find their local public school.
